EP // BRIEF 3 // D&AD PEARSON // WHAT THE CHATBOT CAN PROVIDE STUDENTS

Chatbots are often seen as a fail when we look back at the recently embarrassing episode from Microsoft when they deployed a chatbot on Twitter and soon after it claimed to support Adolf Hitler and hate feminist. This was due to the chatbot being manipulated by other Twitter users as the Chatbot learns and adapts from their surroundings. However, to avoid this situation the chatbot will be build to spot negative words and phrases. Also, the environment that the chatbot will be implemented within will be friendlier and will respond differently to each and every user.

But what can the chatbot do for students within the social messaging platforms? They will be able to:

  • Reminders about homework
  • Understands what homework needs to be completed
  • Extensive database of the individual's course data
  • Knowledge about the University, College or School
  • Provide access to library resources
  • Complete work within social messaging
  • Be used to collaborate with other students
  • Keep a record of the student's progress
