Back in November, I attended NUX5, a conference dedicated to the field of user experience design. When I was at the conference a speaker by the name of Graham Odds gave a presentation called "Let's have a conversation". The talk was about chatbots and how they can be integrated within social messaging platforms in order to communicate directly with the user. He gave a live demonstration of how it could function. Once example would be that your bank messages you within Facebook messenger and alerts you to a potential unauthorised purchased. You can then reply to the bank directly to tell them that you didn't purchase the suspect item and the bank will sort the rest out for you.
Even since the conference, Graham's talk stuck in my mind ever since. I thought the talk was incredible and inspiring. The concept of brand integration with social messaging is such a game changing idea. When the D&AD brief came along I thought it was the perfect opportunity to take the concept in which Graham spoke off and apply it directly within the realm of education. Instead of your bank being integrated within social messaging; students will be able to access their school, college of university's resources and course information within any social messaging platform.
