Overall, extended practice has been the biggest challenge, it's been stressful but extremely enjoyable. The work I've created for the module has been some of my best work to date. It's allowed me to build a portfolio of work that relates to my practice. Throughout the three years there wasn't much chance for me to create anything digital due to being given the briefs but as soon as we wrote our own briefs, It allowed me to focus on what I most interested in which was all things digital!
Briefs such as Related, Hungry House, and e-mily have all been my strongest work I've ever create. They all stem from a strong conceptual focus and as the module lasted for the whole year I was able to contact studios to ask for professional feedback and to understand how the brief could be taken further outside of uni. After my masters I plan to create a start-up around e-mily, to see if it is possible to create such a product. I truly believe in what I've created and can see a gap in the market for the product to thrive. Related is also a game I could easily see in the apple store. It's also a game which can easily be pitched to Spotify. The look and feel of the game had been purposely influenced by Spotify to allow me the best opportunity to try and sell the game/idea to Spotify. Lastly, Hungry House for the iWatch allowed the opportunity to see what was possible. I purposely choose the brief to see how far I could push myself as a designer and a strategic thinker. The final resolution was a success, It's forward thinking in regards to functionality and innovation. This is another product that is ready to pitch to Hungry House but along with 'Related', I have no idea where to start or who to contact!
Overall, time management has been the biggest challenge. Becuase we are given around 6 months to complete extended practice you think you have plenty of time to finish all briefs. Without a concrete plan of attack that pool of time will quickly leak away and what seemed like 6 months is now 4 weeks. My time plan was spot on and I managed to handle all 10 project well. Extended practice has been the best module from my time at uni and is a module I wish was given to us in level 4!
