EP // BRIEF 10 // RESEARCH BRIEF // DICTATORS // TOPOGRAPHY OF TERROR

Topography of Terror is a history museum based in Berlin, Germany.

What is the TOPOGRAPHY OF TERROR?

"Between 1933 and 1945, the centres of national-socialist terror, namely the Gestapo with its own prison, the SS headquarters, the SS Security Service and the Reichssicherheitshauptamt (Main Office for State Security) were located on the site that today hosts the exhibition “Topography of Terror”.

This is where the new exhibition “Topography of Terror” can also be seen. It documents the history of the institutions of terror located in the immediate vicinity of the Nazi government district and of the crimes originating from there. ." http://www.visitberlin.de/en/spot/topography-of-terror

The building is a beautiful example of contemporary architecture. With it's wired mesh and minimal structure the museum combines modernist with it's Nazi past. The building portrays an eerie and prison-like feel. This is the type of museum I would see my publication and other collateral being seen and distributed. The inside of the museum is consistent with the outer shell, it's minimal which allows the information inside to be the main focus. When creating the publication it will be vital to embed the look and feel of the museum, getting an idea of the very character and history the museum presents.
