The revamped Spotmetering.com is a functional and fluid responsive website allowing full accessibility for all users on all devices. Users who are elderly and users who suffer from cognitive, motor and visual impairment. Due to the implementation of a one-switch mechanic the site can be easily operated by any output method such as eye-tracking or keyboard arrows. From the onset, the predecessor site communicated a prehistoric and incompetent service who prioritise masses of content over a fluid user experience, through a structure hierarchical system . Overall the user experience was confusing, overpowering and distant. The newly build site ensures the user is at the centre, allowing the user the easily navigate the site whilst subtly promoting the authors books at every opportunity. The main goal of the brief was to ensure that the products/ services being sold could be easily found and purchased without any effort. By conducting primary research we were able to time consumers in a number of user tests, the main task was to see how long the user could find the book. Through timing how long it took to reach the books we could see if the user took less or more time on the newly designed site compared to the old site. Through comparing both sites it was clearly evident that user reached the books 10-20 seconds quicker compared to the older site. Overall the successful nature of the site is directly associated with the one-click navigational system as the whole site inevitably becomes accessible on one page.
The contemporary and modern layout brings the site into the 21st century, opening up the site to a new generation of photography fanatics. Across all the responsive site, the site remains consistent throughout, ensuring the functionality, user experience and accessibility have been effortlessly transitioned through each device.
