EP // BRIEF 10 // RESEARCH BRIEF // DICTATORS // PROBLEMS OF PRIMARY RESEARCH

With the research topic being about past evil dictators It became problematic in regards to primary research. It's not as easy to contact historians about Hitler and the Holocaust as people won't be as open to answering questions. It's a sensitive area and it's hard to find the right people to email. I have attempted to email a number of historians but the main issues are that they don't state what their specialist area is. Therefore, most of my emails ended up being ignored, especially when they find out that I'm a student. I could avoid saying that I'm a student but this causes another issue, as for why would someone be randomly contacting people asking for details about Hitler and other dictators.

Therefore, I have to rely on secondary research for information about dictators. Through, video, films, podcasts, books, and articles. This would be the most efficient and effective way gather an array of research. However, primary research shouldn't be abandoned completely, primary research can be still undertaken to gather opinions about what people would like to see and what they find most interesting about dictators.
