EP // BRIEF1 // CREATIVE NETWORKS // ANIMATION

The animation consisted of two elements, an introductory animation that would play on a continuous loop as the lecture theater feels up; acting as a way to avoid awkward silences and a beneficial way to encourage conversation within a relaxed environment. The animation would be to inform the crowd that the lecture is about to start.

I've had previous experience with After Effects, I've worked with the software on a number of occasions last year. Even though I have some form of knowledge within after effects my skill level isn't nowhere near to a professional standard. With this in mind, my normal strategy when trying to improve my skills is to seek tutorials within YouTube. From YouTube, I also seek inspiration and ideas in regards to motion graphics. In terms of creative freedom, there weren't any restrictive measures in place. The only important Factor was to ensure the consistency of the chosen theme. The chosen element to apply to the animation was the featured rectangle. The rectangle informed a consistent and uniformed link to the rest of the branding and the added benefit of the rectangle is the hierarchical arrangement and structure it gives the animation, in highlighting important pieces of information. Whilst conducting research within YouTube and came across this video tutorial (below).

The video is a remake of the animation used within the MTV awards from a few years ago. What caught my eye was how the use of a rectangle was the main focus of the animation, everything else was built and animated around the construction of the shape. It instantly represented the kind of format and style I was seeking within my own animation. With this source of inspiration, I set out to replicate and adapt it to the Creative Networks brief, whilst keeping in mind the restrictions and guidelines set out by our theme and other pieces of collateral already created.

The video below Showcases the final video of the animation. The dramatic abstract feel demands attention and a sense of focus whilst introducing the speaker. The music choice is chosen to counterbalance the powerful and fast moving graphics. The music has a chilled and relaxing rhythm, subconsciously injecting a sense of calmness onto the speaker.
