This main objective of the brief was to expose the genre of metal to people who wouldn't normally give the genre a chance. For the user, they would be unaware what the song is, so therefore it's essential to ask people who they dislike about metal and then ensure these design elements are left out of the final design.
I asked around 6 people who didn't like metal in the first place, the question I asked was:
When you see artwork for metal bands is there anything you don't like?
"It's a bit too aggressive and demonic"
"It's the colours I think, I like soft pastel colours so I get a bit nervous around such dark colour"
"It's hard to miss which could be a positive thing but It's too devilish for me, plus a lot of the text and band logos are impossible to read"
"Not my style, makes me feel scared."
"The textures are too grungy and a bit unclean. I'm not a fan off textures"
"I dislike the intense nature of the albums when I see them online, it's very shouty"
