I received two forms of feedback from the middle stage to the end stages of the development. The first feedback was from the first two images below. At this stage of the development, I was happy with what I had created but wasn't too excited by how it appeared. The main thing I was uncertain about was the background colour and the balloon. Visually, the balloon looked slightly fake, especially against the black background. The black background was hiding the bars which could become confusing to what it is at first glance.
To around 7 people I asked whether or not the balloons looked fake and whether the background was making it hard for people to understand what was going on. In regards to the balloon situation, every single person stated that the balloons looked too fake against the bars. The majority stated that the bars looked very realistic which made the balloons look increasingly fake. For the second question regarding the background, I knew the answer before hearing any feedback. This was because at least 5 out of the 7 people didn't know what they were looking at. They all asked "What is it?" and when I told them they had an unsure look on their face.
This result was predictable, I knew the design wasn't at the level I had hoped for. I think it comes down to looking at the design for too long. It needed a fresh pair of eyes to analyse the design and truly tell me what they see and whether or not it was working visually.
The second lot of feedback was to gather opinions about the changes brought on by the past set of feedback. I remade the balloon and brought back the grey and white background. I asked the same question to the same people and their feedback was nothing but positivity. A few were still unsure if the deflated balloon looked like a balloon but due to my level of skill on Cinema4D, this was the best I could do. The object doesn't have to look like a balloon; as long as the user understand that it's a deflated object then the concept is still intact. They all preferred this adaption to the previous, they all stated that the whole thing looks more natural and realistic.
Thankfully, a few mentioned about the shadow suddenly stopping in the distance which was a relief as I didn't even see it!
