I've thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this brief, from start to finish. Before starting extending practice I was planning on working on a brief where I would be solely designing in Cinema4D. Due to the type of brief 'Up yer sleeve was' I was able to do so. Cinema 4D has been a source of fascination for me throughout my uni years and it's a piece of software I've not had much opportunity to use due to my skill level, so this brief also gave me the opportunity to improve on my current skill level.
However, because I don't have a powerful enough computer, rendering, animating and modelling through Cinema 4D becomes extremely problematic. For example, the final resolution for the vinyl sleeve took me just over 5 hours for it to render. As you could guess it caused a few problems throughout the brief. I wasn't able to experiment as much as I had liked too. I was heavily restricted and had to carefully choose what experiments I wanted to full render to see the final outcome. I could quickly pre-render the image within Cinema4D but this didn't give me the full resolution or crucial detail I needed and it still took around 5 minutes! As I mentioned in the blogs and design boards, it was down to feedback and advice that affected which experiments I decided to render. However, I love Cinema4D and everything about it, the final resolution looked amazing, not only visually but conceptually. The results are so realistic which really gives me a great sense of achievement. Even if I had to constantly look through tutorials on Youtube to see how to do certain effects, I stuck at it and eventually got there. I proved to myself that I don't easily give up and through my determination and perseverance I was able to successfully produced a high-quality final resolution.
The brief was a quick fire brief and with the experience of entering Secret 7 for the past two years this year has been my favourite so far. There was nothing that I disliked or can complain about throughout the brief. The song choice that I was allocated was a great song with very inspiring and touching lyrics.
